A little more about ME.

I’m a columnist, teacher, editor, playwright, and creator of the reading and music series Seed: Words + Music, and True Stories.

For 12 years, I was the head writer and co-producer of Live Wire, a radio show recorded in front of a live audience and now aired on over 200 public radio stations around the country.

You can read my work on McSweeney’s Internet Tendency, in Oregon Humanities Magazine on GoLocalPDX and the collection What Was I Thinking?: 58 Bad Boyfriend Stories on St. Martin’s Press.

Last fall I sold a book to Little, Brown called Okay Fine Whatever: The Year I Went From Being Afraid of Everything to Only Being Afraid of Most Things. It should be out in the fall of 2017. I hope you’ll buy it.

  1. Courtenay – The Friendly Period piece is so funny and simply brilliant. Are you really my child??? (The friendly question marks are totally sincere because I’m just not that clever and/or smart, so I’m just wondering . . . . .)

    Green with envy,
    Your Rather Mundane Mother

  2. Courtenay, I just wanted to say that I’m a big fan of your work and you’re one of my favourite female writers. I look forward to reading your book and listening to new Live Wire episodes. One day I’ll come to Portland to see you guys in action but for now, keep up the fantastic work!
